Frank backsteps to stop the president being blackmailed by a dictator hoping to stay in power who is using tapes from the president's psychiatrist to get what he wants.
A typical episode of Seven Days, Head Case follows the template to the letter. Incident happens, Frank backsteps, there are problems, he runs around, does some fighting, fixes things and goes home. In fact, I'm not entirely sure how this episode manages to stretch to 45 minutes, as there's little plot in here to keep things trundling along.
Naturally, the president's psychiatrist is an attractive young blonde and therefore perfect to be Frank's conquest of the week. Luckily it's not quite as obvious as it might seem, as she has a great spark of fun and enthusiasm about her and has the ability to put Parker in his place with ease. It's this chemistry that keeps the story ticking over, as the doctor analyzes Parker whether he wants it or not, believing him originally to be an escaped mental patient, especially when a news report confirms her suspicions.
The mission is accomplished quite easily; the only real problem for Frank comes when he is locked up, but he uses that to his advantage easily. The last scene with Olga and the doctor is quite fun, but aside from this the Backstep team are fairly comprehensively sidelined for the duration of the episode. Without a sub-plot it;s Parker all the way, so only fans of running and hiding are likely to find anything much to love in this episode.
