A tragedy in the Russian province where she was born leads Olga to make an unwise decision, handing over the secrets of Backstep to the Russian project, an event which leads to a coup. Frank must go back in time and stop these events from occurring.
A particularly personal mission for Olga could have been better handled than it is here. In the early stages she is treating the tragedy as something that she can't affect, yet the next thing you know she's handing over the secret to time travel. While she can be forgiven for trusting people who have proved themselves in the past, it still seems a slightly dangerous thing to do. What is inappropriate is the way Frank says it proves she 'has a heart', for which Olga should punch him in the face. I think she's proved plenty of times that she has strong feelings for people and places.
It's symptomatic of the entire episode, as Ramsey's comments about commies are, while in character, excessively blunt and offensive, even coming from him, and Olga is forced to take a back seat as Parker saves the day. It would have been nice for Ms Vukavitch to have been more instrumental in undoing the problems she has caused, but instead she merely helps under duress, then stands back and watches.
Seven Days' shaky grasp of physics is also in evidence as a group of terrorists leading the coup use a nuclear device to destroy the president in his palace, wearing only goggles as protection. They're pretty close and haven't they heard of fall-out? There were several obvious ways to make this better; the Russians and Frank backstepping simultaneously would have made a neat premise, but this kind of racist, overblown and not very interesting nonsense shouldn't have been made.
