Ok, every Scream 3 site you go to has posted all these different rumors about what Neve has said about being in Scream 3, and I know it can get confusing since its all jumbled. Well, I am going to make an attempt to clarify all this information as best to my abilities as possible. Keep in mind however I am in no way affiliated with Neve Campbell, Scream, Kevin Williamson, Dimension Films or anyone else associated with the SCREAM franchise.

According to several reliable sources, the worst of the worst happened. Ireland Film & TV Net conducted a recent interview with Neve Campbell who slipped in a shocker- she wouldn't be in Scream 3. When asked about the third installment in the franchise, she replied "I'm sure Kevin Williamson, who wrote the first two scripts, will make a great job of it, but it's just that fear I have of being typecast. I've really enjoyed these first two movies, and I'm very proud of them, but I think I could easily become 'that girl from the Scream movies' if I stuck around for the third installment. I'm not doing Scream 3 because I don't want to end up being typecast, that's all. It's a career decision, not a personal one". -- Those comments she gave were her words in an interview for the Ireland Film & TV Net magazine. Unless they are lying (which is doubtful because Campbell would sue their ass), she seemed at that time quite assured she didn't want to do the third film. The thing is though that the interview in question was published last month but in recent news-its been said she'll be back.

What will happen to the Scream
franchise if Neve doesn't come back?

Many have said that they wouldn't go see it if Neve wasn't in it because it would suck. Others have said that it didn't matter if she was or not-a Scream movie is a Scream movie. What did Kevin Williamson have to say? Question: Will Neve Campbell return? KW: Well, I guess she needs to wait to see if she has a character. If she doesn't want to be in it, then we'll write it without her. The good thing about SCREAM 3 is I've got three plans. There's the Sid version, the Sid-less version, and....the bottom line is the story itself doesn't rely so much on her character.

The Site of Scream and Neve4ever Online report that they have managed to sneak a peek at an apparent memo from Neve's publicist to the head of her Official Fan Club saying she has just (like recently) signed onboard the third film. According to Isa Bedigian (the webmaster of Neve4EVEr Online) says that Campbell expressed her interest in Scream 3 more than once on Entertainment Tonight and CNN. She also states that on a recent Access Hollywood, while they were reporting on the set of Campbell's new movie Three to Tango, Campbell said, "I have to come back! I'm a survivor!" Says Bedigian, "In fact, just recently, Courteney Cox was interviewed in a UK newspaper saying that she and Neve had phoned each other to discuss shooting the sequel next year."
