Gale Weathers is the bitchy reporter who will do anything for a story. Working for TOP STORY she bosses her camera man Kenny around like he is a child.

Throughout the entire movie her main mission is to get a 'breaking' story so she can get the Pulitzer prize. And it didn't shock me any when she got knocked out by Sidney.

Gale was there reporting when Maureen Prescott (Sidney's mom) was murdered-and the whole time she believed Cotton Weary was innocent and was calling Sidney a liar which cause bad blood between the two. And when the movie begins she is writing a book about what happened to Maureen and how she believed that Cotton was innocent.

When she goes to Stu's party looking for a story-intentionally following the group of teens cause she believes they are somehow involved in the murders that are going on in Woodsboro-she wishes she had never gone.
After planting a camera insides Stu's house, Dewey-with his cute smile asks her if she wants to go check out the call he got saying that their was something in the bushes a ways down the road from where they were-she agrees to go along. They find Mr. Prescott's car and hurry back to the house to see whats going on. Gale makes it there a few minutes after he does and goes to her news van to call the police and tell them what they found-but only gets there to find blood all over the ground. She jumps in the news van and starts the engine...but something is fogging up the glass-its blood! She finds out that its Kenny on top of her news van-dead and turns the van around getting him off and starts down the road.

Sidney see's a car coming and steps out in the middle of the road so she can get the hell out of there-but Gale sees her too late and she veers off the side of the road and slams into a tree.
When Stu and Billy are confessing to all the murders-Gale has regained consciousness and steals the gun-oh! But she has forgotten the safety and can't shoot Billy. He kicks her in the stomach and she flies back and hits her head on a wooden beam and lands next to Dewey.

But you can't keep a good bitch down! She comes back again and gets another shot at Billy in the end. And since she was there-she has a first hand account of what happened that night. She finally got her story-but would you want to go through all that just to get a story?
