If not other wise indicated, the newest stuff will be posted in BIG letters!

Dates:

Production Begins: April 24, 1998
Release Date: October 17, 1998
NEW! Just recently, I heard that the studio is hoping to release the film closer to Halloween!
This could be bad because we'd have to wait longer-BUT it is closer to HALLOWEEN!=)

Who's In It:

Amy Irving
Actress Amy Irving, the lone survivor of the 1976 prom dance, Susan Snell, has signed on to star in United Artist's Carrie II. Irving will return as her character from the original 1976 Brian De Palma film, based off of the novel by Stephen King. Several years after the first film, Irving's character is now a high school guidance counselor, in the same county where she was the sole survivor of Sissy Spacek's night of terror.

Emily Bergle
Emily plays a young female student, most likely named Carrie (I mean, if not why would it be Carrie 2?) whose destructive powers are triggered after high school jocks play a cruel joke on her. Sound familiar? She'll probably do the same thing Sissy did in the first Carrie like killing off all the evin mother fuckers who were fucking with her, but since its the 90's this time around I am sure that it'll be a lot better than the previous movie which was cool in its own rights-but I mean, this is the 90's and theres all that high-tech shit now, and this film is sure to do good because of the fact its a chick killer and we dont get many of them anymore.

This just in, it turns out that Emily's character has the telekenetic powers and is Carrie White's cousin, I guess it runs in the family!

One of the extras received a letter informing them of reshoots that are now needed. The letter stated: "Reshoots will include any scene with 'Rachel', the main character, who in the movie finds out she is the half-sister of Carrie from the original." Ok, so now we know Emily's character is named Rachel and she is actually Carrie's sister! Coolness. Ok, we know it can't bea sister from her mom's side since sex was the deadliest of sins to her, so maybe they have the same father. Ver possible!

Jason London
Twin brother of Jeremy London, Co-Star of Neve Campbell who became mega famous when she became Sidney Prescott in the Scream films. Jason has done a quite few films of his own too including Dazed and Confused, a teen favorite; and the not to long ago hit with Patrick Swaze, To Wong Fu, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar. (I love that movie!=) Anyways, Jason is set to supposedly play boyfriend to Emily Bergle's character, the girl who has the Carrie-like powers and is an out-cast. I assume since he is in fact her boyfriend he'll be an out cast type as well.

Rachel Blanchard
Rachel Blanchard from the UPN TV Series, Clueless from the hit movie of the same name has joined the cast of Carrie 2. And it seems as though Rachel will be playing a nasty cheerleader type which drives the new Carrie character to come out with her powers. She's sure to die if it comes down it it. Maybe Rachel is even going to play Zach's character's girlfriend. Seems like a good fit to me. I guess we will just have to see though! Rachel's other credits include several TV Movies and Series from a young age till now.

Zachary Ty Bryan
The eldest son in Tim Alan's Home Improvement, Zachary Ty Bryan, has signed onto Carrie 2 recently (or at least we found out about it just recently=). Zach will be playing a wealthy, mean-spirited high school football player with little respect for those around him, namingly the Carrie character who he helps play a mean trick on I'm assuming. Or, he might play a character like the Tommy one in the last movie. This isn't Bryan's first film though, he has also stared in First Kid and Principal Takes a Holiday. If Carrie 2 turns out to be a big hit, this'll be his first big movie which I am sure after Home Improvemnt goes off the air will lead him into other movie roles.

NEW! In recent news, Zach's character has been described as a date rapist who is likely to meet an unpleasant fate. Looks like he really will be the kind of guy we dispise.

Dylan Bruno
Bruno will play one of the pranksters that trigger Emily's character's telekinetic powers much like the powers of Sissy Spacek in the first Carrie. You know the type, cute, the football team captain, gets all the girls, dumb, cute, and a complete ass-hole. Yes, we all know the type. And we all want to kill the type too-at least I did when I was in school. I dont know...I think it has something to do with them thinking they are gods gift and they are so not!=) Anyways, I'm sure he'll be the kind of guy we will be happy to see die when she gets pushed too far=)

Charlotte Lopez
Charlotte has only been a few, small films-but she is the former Miss Teen USA 1993. Which means she will most likely play a stuck up bitch who plays a cruel and mean trick on the 'Carrie' character. NEW! This just in, Charlotte will be playing a girl named Tracy.

Elijah Craig
A newcomer but will probably be one of the mean kids seeing as how the 'Carrie' character didn't have many friends and there is basically no one else to play=) NEW! Also just in, Elijah will be playing a guy named Chuck.

Teddi Siddall
Teddi is the latest person to be added to the cast and with her previous film works dating back to 1980 and her being married since 1992, I'm going to go with her being one of the older stars in the movie. At the Internet Movie Database her character is just listed as Karen, Jr. D.A, so, I'm still not sure what her role will be. Anyways, previous film works include several TV Movies and notable guest appearences on Happy Days, Mary Tyler Moore and Hill St Blues.

Other Casting News:

Casting is indeed underway for the film. An actor in Los Angeles told people he's auditioned for the character of Mark Bing, described as "the old leader of the pack, cool/asshole, you know the story" [Side Note From Jess: Maybe thats the character's name Dylan Bruno got casted in. Sounds like the discription I was given about his character!] kind of character. "Also I'm hardly a star and didn't recognize anyone else at the audition, so it isn't a Scream type cast," the scooper also added. While they didn't want to tell anything about the story, the scooper did reveal that the character he was trying out for eventually drowns in the film.

Who's Making It:

Director: Robert Mandel, who's last project was The Substitute in 1996
Screenwriters: Rafael Moreu (Hackers), Howard Rodman
Producer: Paul Monash who also produced the first Carrie

Filming In:

The very first scoop I got about Carrie 2 was from Craig Rosenthal and he informed me that Carrie 2 will be filmed in uptown Charlotte, North Carolina.

The Charlotte Convention Center in North Carolina is going to be home to part of the filming. Apparently a two-story house will be built inside and then later burned down.

Citizen's of North Carolina's Charlotte will be able to audition to be an extra in the film, so if you are lucky enough to live there-find out when and where they'll be doing it, get down there and blow a big kiss down to your pal Jess here in Texas when you get on screen=)

A few miles away from Charlotte is the neighboring town of Gastonia. The North Gaston High School is all set to become the film's 'Bates High School'. Students there will no dobt be able to be in the background of the film as extra's.

Misc News:

Around the set the film is mentioned as having the subtitle of 'The Curse'. Our scooper, while not directly connected to the film, has learned that there's been some setbacks on the set. Apparently the film's Art Director quit and construction on the principal house is behind schedule because the first Construction Coordinator quit. One of the more nasty rumors going around is that the entire shoot is three weeks behind schedule.

Hot off the rumour mill May 19th, is the gossip that United Artists have apparently fired Director Robert Mandel from this horror sequel. He has been replaced by Katt Shea (Wrote and directed Poison Ivy, a made for TV movie staring Drew Barrymore and starred in Psycho III) who began first day of shooting a few days ago.

Major chaos on the set. First the studio brass reviewed several days' worth of dailies and were not pleased with the look of the film. Friction with the wardrobe dept. that lead to their dismissal. Everything had to be re-shot sending the schedule about two weeks behind. Now more bad news - the execs still didn't like what they were seeing. With the film already scheduled for 12 weeks (officially) but expected to require 14 weeks, the director and his team and the camera dept. have been fired. Costs are climbing.
