For the Flashback issue, we start by looking at a hidden base of Landau, Luckman, Lake, and Lequare and a younger Zoe Culloden. Zoe and an Overboss Dixon.
Dixon is evaluating Zoe's project which involves Wade Wilson (not yet Deadpool). Zoe's project has entered a flux point in his life, and the seer called Montgomery believes that
the chances that the outcome will be favourable are not good. In order to make sure the outcome is favourable, Zoe sets out to make sure Wade makes it through.
Boston. Vanessa, a prostitute and Wade's girlfriend, is met by an undercover Zoe, also acting as a prostitute. Zoe moves into Vanessa's apartment in order to meet Wade when he visits her. Vanessa throws Zoe out for the night saying that she has a date with Wade. Zoe is brought back to the base by Dixon who tells her that he believes Wilson is not the right man for the program. Dixon takes Zoe to Zaire where Wade Wilson is supposed to have murdered not only his target but all of the installation there.
Zoe travels back to Boston and runs into Wade into a hallway, who is just leaving Vanessa's. Back at the LLL&L base, Montgomery tells Zoe that Wilson didn't kill his target in Zaire and the employers will seek retribution, and that retribution will be aimed at Vanessa. After a return to Boston, Zoe saves Vanessa from the people after Wade. Once Zoe has returned to the base, Monty tells her that there is a 98% chance Wilson will be unsuitable for the program, thanks to the unseen event of Wade's cancer. Wade ends up leaving Vanessa and Zoe believes she has lost Wade Wilson for good.
