Mulder's goal in life is to find his sister Samantha and discover the truth. Abducted when he was only 12 and she was 8, Samantha's abduction has haunted him for years. Dana Katherine Scully

Scully grew up in various parts of the country, her family always moving due to her father's job in the Navy. Scully has always held an intrest in science, and studied forensic pathology in University. Much to her parent's dismay, she became a FBI Agent after completing medical school, wanting to make a difference. Very practical and organized, she was assigned to the X-Files shortly after she joined the FBI to "debunk" Mulder's work. Not sharing Mulder's belief in the paranormal, she thrives to find evidence and logical explanations to all of their cases. Some were just too strange for her to do so. Shocked by some of the things that she's seen, her life has been in extreme danger more than once, and her sister Melissa was even killed due to her work.

Scully is played by Gillian Anderson.

Alex Krycek

Nickname: Ratboy

When Scully was in the hospital after he abduction, it was Agent Krycek who filled in as Mulder's partner in the FBI. Not being able to even compare to Scully, Mulder is less than impressed with this seemingly clean-cut young new Agent. Soon after, Krycek is discovered to have been working for the Cigarette Smoking Man, keeping a close watch on Mulder and the then-closed X-Files. Krycek is betrayed by the CSM and must be on the run to save his life. He is forced to sell government secrets to survive. Soon after he almost dies from coming in contact with the mysterious black oil. Not being able to trust anyone, he becomes a kind of on-again off-again worker for the Syndicate. Being Russian (he speaks the language fluently, too) he gets an arm chopped off while investigating in Russia. Soon after he meets Marita Covarrubias and they "get to know eachother" abit better.

Krycek is played by Nicolas Lea.

Assistant Director Walter Sergei Skinner

Is he on Mulder and Scully's side or the Syndicate's? That is hard to say. This ex-marine usually appears to be on the side of our favorite little agents, but every now and then he can be caught conversing with the Cigarette Smoking Man. Whatever his side, as their supervisor, he presses Mulder and Scully to do their very best work (and provide lots of evidence) with his strict, by-the-rules methods. He and Mulder, who doesn't believe in going by the rules, often get into fights. Although he has put an end to investigations and even completely closed the X-Files, he has often gone out of his way to let Mulder and Scully continue their investigations. Like him or hate him, you've got to admit those little round parts that go over his ears on his glasses look pretty stupid. (Cheap shot, I know).

Skinner is played by Mitch Pileggi.

C.G.B. Spender

Nicknames: The Cigarette Smoking Man, Cancerman
Children: Agent Jeffery Spender

This underhanded man has been a large part of the Syndicate for many, many years. He has been in tight spots more times than I can count, yet he always stays disturbingly calm with his trademark cigarette hanging out of his mouth. Through his search for the truth, Mulder has discovered that his own father had done some work with the Cigarette Smoking Man and the syndicate before. Mulder also believes that there is a chance that the CSM is his or Samantha's father! Little is known about this mysterious character- but do we really want to know more? Where will the truth take us?

The Cigarette Smoking Man is played by William B. Davis.

The Lone Gunmen

Names: John Fitzgerald Byers, Ringo Langly and Melvin Frohike

These three very different characters combine their unique talents with their own search to get to the bottom of various conspiracies to create their own magazine, "The Lone Gunman." Whenever Mulder needs help and doesn't want to go to the FBI, or he needs a different view on something others would scoff at, he turns to the Lone Gunmen. In return, they get to learn about new conspiracies. They have helped Mulder (and Scully) many times.

Byers is very neat and tidy, always dressing in a suit and tie, his beard always neatly trimmed. He is very polite, and fairly out of character, he fell for the dangerous Susanne Modeski. He is the group's information systems expert.

Frohike is short, a bit pudgy, and likes Agent Scully a lot. He is always trying to impress her. He is the group's photographic and special operations expert.

Langly has long blond hair and dresses in a grungy kind of way- black t-shirt with some band's logo on it, and black jeans. He is the communications expert of the group.

Byers is played by Bruce Harwood
Frohike is played by Tom Braidwood
Langly is played by Dean Haglund
