You Step into the Castle

You collect your courage and take a cautious step through the door with your entire body tense. Entering the shadow of the door you step inside the castle. After a few moments of uneasy waiting your muscles slowly relax as you realize that nothing unpleasant has happened to you yet. Quickly scanning the rooming you look for anything that could offer a threat. Your searching gaze meets a room completely without life. You take a moment to take in the details of the gargantuan chamber.

The room you are now standing in must have been some type of banquet area at some point in history. The hall is at least three stories high, possibly more. Light comes from numerous stained glass windows that sit far above your head. Faded tapestries hang from a balcony that recedes from the second story. A oak table extends in front of you, surrounded by high-backed chairs. Judging from the number of seats pulled up to the table, this room was meant to entertain at least a hundred souls. You run your fingers along the dusty surface of the table top. This place hasn’t seen much action in recent years. The dust raised by your entrance is filtering through the light coming from the windows. The entire chamber is half lit in unearthly light. You repress a shudder, what a creepy effect! You wonder what could have happened. All the furniture had been left, but there was apparently no one living here. What had caused the original inhabitants to leave?

You start moving again and head towards the back of the hall. Running along the back of the room is a row of doorways. You look around, light seems to be coming from somewhere close. Pinpointing a small spot of light you head towards it and see the pleasant glow of a candle. Following the source you open one of the doors and step into a brightly lit hallway. You blink, the glare is hurting your eyes after the semi dark of the banquet room. When your vision adjusts you inspect the small area. A large wooden desk is set against one wall. It looks like it should be holding a computer and printer, not the scrolls and ink wells that it does contain. You’re puzzled, what’s this desk doing here?

You wait around to see if anyone comes...
You leave, this place is too creepy....
