History:

A holy place situated at a height of about 1200 meters in this southern state is an adorable place like kayilai and so it is called veLLiN^giri. The nature adorned Lord sits at this high mountain temple beautified by the nature. This is acave temple. This temple qiote renowned in the area and is spoken in conjunction with pErUr temple. There is a temple on the foot of the mountain also.

Specialities:

Devotees worship at this marvelous cave temple mainly in the months of mAchi, paN^guni, chiththirai (Feb to May). On the first day of chiththirai and the full moon day of that month there would be crowds of devotees who worship here. Whereas there is regular worship in the temple at the bottom of the mountain. On this mountainous trek to salute the Lord Who likes the mountains, it is very important to watch the step through the way. It is advised to take sticks for hold and walk carefully through the trek. On the way there are ponds that quench the thirst. The dharshan of the Lord at the cave would be rewarding. Some people undertake this trek in the evening as it would be less tiring in the light of the moon.
