LadyLee and David
Charles Griffin
I had the pleasure of meeting Dave twice; at the get-togethor at Lady
Lee's in Ontario, NY; and a personal visit he made here to Jax about
three years ago.
This is not to speak of the many, many emails.
Though quite young in age, I found Dave to have wisdom beyond his years.
He was one of the most patient men I have ever met. Like most patient
persons, Dave tended to take the long view of things, and didn't get too
excited about situations, choosing to wait until more facts came in. He
would talk for hours, sipping a beverage, and smoke endless cigarettes
(much like myself, except for the talking part). I found him very easy
to be around.
He talked incessantly about his daughter, his wife, and his sister.
Another interest was the history of Syracuse. He knew of all the buildings
and homes; who had occupied them and when, what affect those entities
and persons had on Suracuse; when roads were built, and what they had
been named in past; he knew all about the institutions such as Govt and
University, churches, banks, private businesses and industry, and how
they had all changed and had an affect on the area. That is to say, his
knowledge was of depth and breadth.
And that was only one of his interests. He had many.
He had worked for the State, with the mentally ill, for many years. He
had seen the very worst behaviour that mankind had to offer. Year after
year. He knew all about the psycho-active drugs, both legal and
illegal; what affect they had on persons. He knew a great deal about
human behaviour, and again he took the long view, knowing that some
persons would never see the light of day again, so disabling were their
disturbance. In that regard he had a passionate interest in working
with young persons; who were often hospitalized for drug related
behaviour. He actively pursued that path in his career, even when that
meant long commutes and lousy hours. He thought he could make a
difference.
All I have said above took years for me to learn, for Dave seldom spoke
of himself, and information had to be dragged out of him, as it were.
That is to say, he was unassuming and modest.
I know he was a good father and husband, and an especially good friend
to Bridget.
He was a fine young man, who touched many lives, for he above all loved
people.
Am glad I got to know him, glad he was there for Bridget; he was one of
those persons who made a difference.

Welcome to our home!! Soon, you will
feel a part of this ever growing, but friendly home!
Oh, don't worry about that Robert, He is harmless.
Well, only if he's fed! And if he tries to
tell you that there is a fee to remain here.....
its all a lie!
I think you will enjoy yourself, and make many new
friends. I know we will get along fine.
So pull up a chair, get comfy, and have fun!
WELCOME!!!!!
