I sat and stared at the words in your letter,
they jumped off the page
and slapped me across the face.
And I don't know which stung more,
my cheek or my
heart.
I sat and stared at what you had written,
I blinked several times in disbelief.
I never expected to see those words come from you,
So cold, so heartless,
so void of feeling.
This must be a joke, a very cruel hoax,
These words were not written by you,
The you that I knew was loving and kind,
who used words to encourage and heal.
No, this couldn't be you
I thought as I stared,
This isn't something you'd do.
Not the you that I knew, or
...didn't know,
That's it!
I never saw this side of you.
I never knew you at all.
And then the
tears came.
