Dreamask

--by Lilly Fluger

What do I do in my dreams I ask?
Is it more play? Or is there some task
that I undertake for learning's sake
or some other dimensional cake I bake?
Dreams are a mystery with hazy memories my clue
It's a wonderful puzzle to solve what I do
I'm learning a lot, understanding a few
But what not-on-Earth in my dreams do I do?
This is my question; this is my quest
Such an endeavor I highly suggest
Each night I'm active though seeming at rest
Where do I travel? Whom do I meet?
How do I get there without using my feet?
Sleep is my entrance to unknown lands
Dreaming turns the door-knob with invisible hands
Then in the morning, I remember a bit
And groggy awake on the bed I sit
Where have I gone? What did I do?
Memories dwindle, I need some dream glue!
Other place snapshots, are they other whens?
Echoes of traces of faces and thens
It's a landscape intriguing this dreamland of mine
It's a somewhere I go when I take off my mask--
But what do I do in my dreams I ask?
