The 3 Butchers of Cugy!
The small Swiss village of Cugy, with its' population of less than
one thousand people, is host to no less than three butchers'shops.
This astonishing fact has not yet been the object of a major
sociological study by the University of Fribourg, situated a mere
25km to the North.
The butchers' shops will be looked at in a random order - it being important
in this village not to upset the butchers.
Butcher Pythoud
is situated over near the town hall, behind the
Castle.
Mr.Pythoud specialises in mergueze sausages ... a spicy pure lamb
North African speciality - highly recommended. You can also find
top quality venison and other seasonal game.

Butcher Pury
can be found near the Post Office on the main
Payerne road.
The shop is under the level of the street, making for quite a special
atmosphere. They do a good Saucisse à Rôtir - a tasty pork and beef sausage
for the oven.
Butcher Molleyres
is nearest to the headquarters of the
Cugy Interfax News Service and therefore probably benefits more from local
journalists' custom.
Here you can find very good smoked hams - a local speciality - and
other dried meats. Friendly service.
