In astrology, the sun, moon and other planets are reffered to as planets for convenience sake. All together there are 10 planets, including the sun and moon and excluding the earth. The earth is excluded because humans see the solar system from earth and not from the sun. Therefore, on an astrology chart, the solar system travels around the earth and not travel arround the sun.

Every planet have a different meaning and every aspect that the planet form with another planet creates a different meaning. The following is a breakdown of a rough meaning of a particular planet.

Generally speaking, planets in exaltation or in rulership tend to be good aspects and position whereas planets in detriment and fall indicates not so good position and not very lucky.

	The House that the Sun occupies will be strongly emphasized, and the affairs of that House are likely to be of great importance to the subject throughout his life. Generally speaking, the affairs of Houses 7-12 are concerned with adult life; in the interpretation of children's charts, the planets placed in houses 7-12 will relate to potentialities to be developed in adulthood.	Creative, generous, big-hearted, organizing ability, love of children, affectionate, magnanimous, dignified.	Pompous, arrogant, domineering, gushing and extravagant, overbearing and bombastic.

	Next to the Sun, the moon is the most important body in the Birth Chart; the characteristics of the sign it occupies form an integral part of the personality. These have a direct bearing on habits and reactions in a given environment and on a person's instinctive behavior. Characteristics inherited from past generations are related to the Moon and its position.	Passive, patient, tenacious, imaginative, sensitive, a maternal nature, sympathetic, receptive, shrewd in business matters, a good memory.	Moody, clannish, changeable, weak reasoning power, unreliable, gullible, narrow-minded, reluctant to forgive.

	Mercury, moving like Venus inside the Earth’s orbit is an ‘inferior’ planet. Mercury is the nearest planet to the Sun, and is always found within 28 degrees of it. On a Birth Chart, Mercury appears either in the same sign as the Sun, the next sign (ahead of the Sun) or in the previous sign.	The urge to acquire knowledge and communicate it to others; good reasoning powers, perceptive, clever, versatile, excellent in debate or argument; intellectual, attentive to detail.	Inconsistent, hypercritical, inquisitive, lacking a sense of purpose, uncontrolled nervous energy brings mental strain or stagnation, argumentative, ‘slick’, bitingly sarcastic cynical.

	Venus is the second ‘inferior’ planet: its orbit, like Mercury’s falls, inside that of Earth. Also like Mercury, it is always close to the Sun as seen from Earth, and never travels more than 48 degrees from it along the ecliptic. Venus either occupies the same sign in a birth chart, or falls within the two signs to either side of it.	The urge for harmonious partnership, a gentle, kind and friendly manner, tactful, adept in love and the social arts, adaptable, appreciative of beauty, placid, refined.	Lazy, gushing, indecisive, excessively romantic, weak-willed, careless, impractical, dependent on others even parasitically.

	Mars is the first 'superior' planet. Its orbit falls that of Earth, and its position in the Birth Chart is not closely linked with that of the Sun - as happens with the 'inferior' planets, Mercury and Venus. Mars take about two and a half years to travel through all the signs, and remains in each sign for just over two months.	Decisive, freedom-loving, a pioneer, direct in his approach, a strong leader especially in crisis, a defender of the weak. A positive and lively response to all situation.	Aggressive, irate, brutal, foolhardy, lacking forethought; selfish, quarrelsome, over-hasty, indifferent to detail, rude, boisterous.

	Jupiter takes about 12 years to make its way through all the signs of the Zodiac; its orbit is somewhat eccentric and it spends a disproportionate amount of time in certain signs. The planet has always been associated with the idea of expansion; physically, its outer layer are composed of gas and it has a powerful magnetic field. Jupiter is also the largest planet in the solar system.	Optimisitic, generous, loyal; jovial, a kind to nature, a sense of justice and compassion, breadth of vision, well-directed mental powers; flair for languages; good at sport.	Blindly optimistic; an extremist; wasteful, self-indugent, extravagant, conceited; unbalanced in beliefs.

	The keyword for Saturn is 'limitation'. In ancient times, it was the outermost planet in the known universe; it's rings, indicating bonds and restriction, were not discernible with the naked eye, and the idea that Saturn stood for limitation was part of accepted astrological knowledge long before telescopes were invented and the rings revealed.	Practical, cautious, constructive, responsible, patient, ambitious, thrifty, solid, reliable, trustworthy, good endurance and self-discipline.	Mean, selfish, despondent, narrow-minded, severe, aloof, acquisitive, dogmatic, heartless, cruel, suffers depressions, hardship.
Uranus		Positive Uranian traits	Negative Uranian traits
	Taking about 84 years to complete a journey around the Sun, Uranus stays in each sign of the Zodiac for seven years. Its influence must not be over-emphasized when interpreting Birth Chart as a whole. However, if the Sun, Moon or Rising is Aquarius, or if Uranus is about to rise, or was near the Midheaven at the time of birth, its influence is considerably increased.	Humanitarian, friendly, kind, independent, original, inventive, strong-willed, versatile, loathing restriction.	Cranky, eccentric, determined to be different, perverse, abnormal, rebellious, unpredictable.

	Neptune's influence is very subtle, and with most people its effects lie dormant for many years. Materialistic people may not reap any conscious benefit from this planet, although it will work at the subconscious levels of their personalities. Sensitive people though, will be influenced by the planet, especially when it makes transiting aspects to the angles, the Sun, Moon and ruling planet of the Birth Chart.	Idealistic, spiritual, imaginative, sensitive, subtle, artistically creative.	Deceitful, careless, sentimental, diffuse, indecisive, self-deceiving, impractical, unworldly, a worrier.
Pluto		Positive Plutonic traits	Negative Plutonic traits
	Pluto takes 246 years to travel around the Sun, and because of its eccentric orbit, it stays in a sign between 13 and 32 years. It seems that when it moves from one sign to the next, important world events and changes can occur. For instance, it moved into Cancer at the time of the outbreak of World War I, and was entering Leo at the time of the Munich crisis and the start of World War II.	Able to make a fresh start in favourable circumstances; flair for big business, financial security, analytical.	An unhealthy subconscious; underhand, critical tendencies; cruel, bestial, sadistic.
