The Electronic Zoo

It is very easy to see why this site has garnered many web awards. "WOW!" might actually be considered an understatement for this vast clearinghouse of sorts for information relating to all types of animals. Far from being only a guide for where to go to find information about Cats andDogs, the Electronic Zoo has resource links for many of the types of creatures we usually don't consider as companions, such as Cows and Invertebrates (though some 7-year-olds might want to keep these as pets...). The Electronic Zoo provides links to vast quantities of information that could become unmanageable if it were not for two factors:

  1. The Electronic Zoo site is well organized and very easy to use, so easy it really doesn't need any links singled out. A quick look and you should be able to easily find the link(s) to the resources for which you are looking, and if for some reason this is not the case,
  2. There is a built in search engine designed to find what you are looking for without hassle.

Even so Ghatten checked out the offerings and can point you to some gems that are of note:

My favorite section was the list of Veterinary Career Information, including links to what it is like to be a vet. Humans interested in this career can see what's involved in helping Ghatten's kind and more.

Second on my list was the link to sites with Animal Images. Ghatten checked out some of the cat pictures found there and she may pick a new beau.....

The tastiest set of links is surely the one to resources regarding Rodents. Ghatten found all manner of facinating sites about all kinds of delicious rodents including some concerning using them for research....(What a disturbing and bizarre waste of perfectly good food.....)

And if reading about all creatures great and small is your forte, browse through the list of Animal Related Electronic Publications or a link to listings of Usenet Newsgroups Related to Animals.

Sure to entertain all but the most picky is the sites weekly "Pick of the Litter" and The Past Picks.

None of this does justice to a premiere web resource. A small sampling of areas found under Animal Resources (follow the big pawprint) is below as an example.
