This very informational and useful site expanded my limited concept of the ASPCA. It previously did not extend much beyond the matching human companions with animal friends. This is only a fraction of what the ASPCA actually is all about. The APSCA's website is easy to navigate and provides information regarding services they offer, including, but not limited to, counseling for humans who have lost a companion animal and their visiting pet service information (this is where people take their companions to places such as nursing homes to cheer up the residents).
The parts of the site I feel are the most important and the parts of the site that everyone should take a look at are the Volunteer information to participate directly and Humane Education section, which gives you the chance to get involved by Adopting a Classroom to which to send educational materials.
My favorite online part of the site is the "Animal Watch" newsletter issue that is available online in their publications section. It offers some useful answers to pet-owners questions by a vet.
There is online pet care info, though apparently and dissappointingly limited to cats and dogs.
Useful and interesting information can be found on their issues page. I was amazed to see the information regarding animal related governmental affairs they have listed, a huge table of outstanding legislation is available with links to the text of some of the legislation itself!
Convenient for those who are looking is their TV listings, of ASPCA related broadcasts.
Don't miss their list of links which is cleverly titled the "Jump" page and offers a listing of humane resources online by state.
Ghatten really likes this site, though at times the server did not respond when she was trying to explore and the pages, though not heavy on fancy graphics, are often slow to load; it is still worthwhile and worth the wait!
