"WHEREIN THOU JUDGEST ANOTHER..."
Protestants sometimes speak glowingly of a "dynamic" church and a "living" religion. These adjectives are used to describe a church and religion that change with the times, and are therefore supposed to be more relevant in our modern age. Often the notion is that the changes are guided by the Holy Spirit, and thus a claim to real spirituality, real connection with God is staked. In reality, however, this concept presupposes an inadequate God, for it assumes that the revelation made by that God two thousand years ago was flawed by all the misconceptions of that age. Of course, if this is so, one must assume that any revelation or Spirit guided understandings presently acquired are likewise imperfect and will soon be in need of revision.
Protestantism, with its roots in the reformation, professes to return to the Bible, or even return the Bible to its rightful place as the unique revelation of God's will. And yet, man made creeds are well represented among protestant denominations. Hypocrisy exists when protestants who cherish their denominational creeds and their dynamic churches berate the Catholics for not looking solely to the Bible.
