Beaver

The Beaver people (self-designation: Dunne-za) are a small group living in Canada, in the Peace River area of eastern British Columbia and northwestern Alberta. In 1991 there were 300 speakers (out of 600 population.

 

Ortography in our list is not reliable: some names are phonetizations made by the colonizers.

Tutchone

Two distinct Tutchone languages or dialects are spoken in Yukon, Canada. Southern Tutchone is spoken in the southwestern part of the territory. Northern Tutchone is spoken in the Yukon communities of Mayo, Pelly Crossing, Stewart Crossing, and Carmacks. In 1982 there were 450 speakers out of 1,500 population.

Slave

The Slave language is the tongue of the people of Mackenzie river, which they call Deh Cho, great river. Several groups known as Slavey, Hare, Sahtu spoke this language (which they call Dene) and live in the NW Territories and in northern Alberta, in Canada. In 1982 there were 4,000 speakers out of 5,000 population.
