Livonian

Livonia comprises some coastal areas of Estonia and Latvia, where the Live people lived and spoke Livonkel or Livonian. This is a Finno-Ugric language close to Estonian. Today, only about 50 speakers remain in some coastal towns of Latvia, in the northern part of Curlandia. The newly independent Latvian government has stablished a region called Livõd Randa to help cultural revival.
