Cayuga
The Cayuga are one of the Iroquoian Nations. Now they
live mostly in Six Nations reserve, in Ontario, Canada. But
in all they are some 3,000 including USA. The language,
called Gayogohó:no' in Cayuga itself, is only spoken
by some 360 speakers in Canada and 10 speakers in the US
(1991). We have two tables, one with placenames in general,
and the other (above) for the Mohawk
reservations in Quebec.
Regarding spellings, nasalized vowels are marked in
Cayuga with an ogonek, but here they are represented with
diaeresis [ë / ö]. Underlines indicate devoiced
"whispered" vowels, and [:] indicates long vowels.

Gayogohó:no'
Cayuga herria da Irokesen konfederazio fundatu zuen
taldeetako bat. Gaur gehienak Sei Nazioen erreserban bizi
dira, Ontarion, Kanadan. Guztira 3,000 lagun, EEBBetakoak
barne, baina oso hiztun gutxi: 1991n, 360 Kanadan eta soilik
10 Estratu Batuetan. Bi taula ditugu, baita jeneralekoa, eta
bestea goian Quebeceko Mohawk
erreserbena.
Idazkerari dagokionez, Cayuga hizkuntzan ogonek batekin
markatzen dira bokal sudurkariak, baina hemen bi
punttuttorekin jarri ditugu. Azpimarrak, azentuak eta bi
puntuak ere [:] bokalen ezaugarriak markatzeko erabiltzen
dira.
