You thought you knew him well
and let him in with perfect trust.
It was a deception of the highest order.
He pinned you down in a darkened room
and turned an unhearing ear
to your screams and cries of pain,
turned an unseeing eye
to the agony on your face.
He had no right, only strength
greater than yours to hold you down.
He could never give back all has taken,
nor can he take back all he has given.
He has no love to offer,
only nightmares.

You walk through listless days,
afraid and remembering
how had he betrayed and used you,
your blinded eyes wide open,
unsuspecting, widening
with each painful transgression,
in disbelief of shattered trust.
Close your eyes now and learn to survive.
There is no guilt, no reason, no shame.
You have no fault.

Broken angel touching ground,
close your eyes and
dream your peace.
