dear god
please make me brave 
so that i can face everyday
with a ready smile and a helping hand 
so that i can voice my thoughts,
so that i can disagree
and not be afraid to be different 
from those around me
so that i can go on
living my life and being myself,
which I know will truly make me happy.

please make me strong
so that i can give without
expecting anything in return
so that i can handle anything
that comes my way 
without breaking to pieces 
if the going gets tougher
than what i or anybody else expected
so that i can be calm for myself 
and for those around me
during those times when it seems
that the world will collapse on itself.

and last of all, dear god,
please make me patient
so that i can learn
to love unconditionally,
especially those who need
to be loved most.
