Blue fish swimming in a tiny fishbowl in the room that Anna, Jamie and Karen share wants to be more than he is. Three times he has attempted to fly away like the birds that he's seen outside the window through the dusty green venetian blinds. Twice he's tried to bark like the dirty white dog prancing around in the laundry area, urinating on the washing machine. All to no avail; nature just doesn't agree. All his life he's wanted to be something other than a blue fish caught up in the tiny fishbowl of his world. And one day he finally decides to let go of himself and fly out of his round blue and black body. Little by little, his body starts to float until his blue fish soul flies away, out the avocado blinds, past the screen and the jalousies, into the blue sky with the birds. |
