FULFILLMENT

We are living in an interesting world today, one filled with people looking for an easy way, human success with little or no effort, an existence filled with vacations and fun, parties and amusements with no responsibilities. How interesting that a society filled with so many amusements and free time is also filled with so much frustration and puposelessness.

People are looking for purpose and fulfillment in their lives in what they can produce or wangle for themselves. We live in a society specializing in fleshly interests, temporal fulfillment, living empty lives from selfishness and sin. They strive but become disappointed, disallusioned, nervous or paranoid, filled with anxieties. They may have success in business but have no soul-satisfaction. No number of Psychiatrists, Psychologists, tranquilizers, amphetamines, psychotheropy will ever be sufficient to cancel the fear, frustration and anguish of guilt that has set in.

Our attentions are misplaced. The frustrations of life today are not different than those faced by our forefathers in the past, but they understood the source and the solution to be spiritual and not physical or psychological. Our attentions are fixed upon the physical, the material, the mechanicl and the political forces of the world without any though for what is essential to all of us, the human spirit. In ignoring it we deny the existence of the most dynamic dimension of our lives. And if we deny it and ignnore it how can we fix it?

David, the psalmist of Israel, testified, “I sought the Lord, and heard me, and delivered me from all my fears (Psalm 34: 4). Only the power of God can meet the needs of the human soul. Only God can grant relief. Only God can give victory. Only through coming to God in prayer, through the Person of His Son, Jesus Chrsist can one experience true victory, joy and heart-felt praise.

He takes away the fear, the guilt and the frustration, because He takes away the sin which caused it. He gives soul-satisfaction. He gives both comfort for the heart and confidence for life. But, if you will not let go of your sin, you will never experience any of this release of sin or guilt. You’ll carry it with you to the grave and into a Christless eternity. Friend, if it isn’t good company now, think about having it with you forever.

‘This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him and saved him out of all his troubles” (Psalm 34: 6). He further invites you to experience the same in verses eight and nine; “O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.”

Fear is eliminated when God’s love is experienced in salvaiton. “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not perfect in love” (1 John 4: 18). Perfedt love is what Jesus demonstrated in dying for your sins on the cross. Won’t you receive His perfect love and forgiveness by receiving Him?
