Boating with Emilie 
 
  In his landscapes, Klimt attempted to amalgamate his perceptions of life and nature into a grand cosmic style.  His first landscapes date from 1898 and gave his first one, a view of an orchard, to Emilie Flöge.   He spent his summer months with Emilie and her family on the Attersee.  It is said that these vacations aroused his taste for rural life and this his love for landscapes.
