Rain, Rain Go Away We had 9 inches of rain today, in a matter of a few hours. The most we've ever had in Lehigh. Our town is the highest around our county, so flooding is unheard of.
Today our back yard flooded.Banyan was at first puzzled and kept coming up to me, in my heavy rain poncho, as if to ask - "Why is there water coming from the sky, and up so high in the yard, over my paws? Where's the grass anyway?!? You want me to go potty in this? Where?????"
Well, he quickly got over his bewilderment. "Forget going potty, this stuff is fun! Look!!!! I can run and splash water and stuff everywhere. Those white shorts are kinda messy now, Mom. Here, let me wipe my nose on them to see if I can help a bit. Hmmm.....that didn't help, here have a paw. Wow Mom, I make great paw prints. We should save that one."
So I watched him cavorting full speed ahead, running all out and then landing with a huge *!kersplash!*, front paws spread wide for maximum splash effect. He was having a wonderful time of it. Then he discovered that he could dig.
In the water.
"Oh man this is just too cool! I found the grass!!! Hey mom, look at this! I dig and dig and dig and hey!!!!!....there's the grass! And the dirt too!! They were hiding under all this water. It's really wet dirt though. Feels soooooooooo good between my toes. Ohhhh...I bet this would feel sooooooo good all over my face too! Oooooohhhhh...it does!!!! This
is super! I hope this fun water stays around for me to play in some more.""What's she got there now? Ah-oh...I don't like this. She's got lotsa towels, the hose, and that stupid soapy stuff that tastes so yucky. It's quite rude how she rubs it all ooooooover my body! Well, ok, the massage is nice. Yeah ok, the rub down afterwards is fun too, especially when I play tug of war with the towel as she tries to dry me off."
Yep, the pup got a bath in the carport. He was COVERED in mud, from head to toe.
I laughed and laughed as I watched him romping in all the water. He'd come running up to me full tilt and splash and look at me to make sure I was enjoying this as much as he was. It was so hard to scold him when he started digging. So _we_ got a bath, coz one cannot bathe Banyan and remain dry.Time for a Mudslide drink. I think I deserve one.
