Hurricane Floyd postponements

Floyd will not disrupt Grimsley game

Staff Report
(First published Sept. 17, 1999)

Hurricane Floyd, which just grazed Guilford County, has not postponed the scheduled Smith-Grimsley varsity football game set for tonight.

The Whirlies (3-0-1) will invade Manzi Stadium for a 7:30 kickoff. Grimsley will be playing without starting quarterback Ryan Moody, who is sidelined with a broken ankle. David Malino will start in his place.

Due to the fact that GCS called off extra-curricular activities Wednesday and school Thursday, Smith (2-2) has not practiced the last two days.

Grimsley is ranked 10th in the latest Greensboro News & Record poll. Smith is ranked 13th.

Teams are averaging only five points per game against the Whirlies.

The Smith-Grimsley jayvee game will be played Monday night at 6:30 at Jamieson Stadium.
