Eagles travel to Northeast in soccer playoffs

The Smith soccer team opens play in the NCHSAA 3-A playoffs tonight at Northeast Guilford.

The Golden Eagles (9-7-1) have won five of their last six matches, the only loss being a 4-2 to Piedmont Triad Conference champion Southwest Guilford. In its last regular-season outing, BLS defeated Carver 9-1.

Smith is led by forward Brian Woodward, who scored four goals in the win over the Yellowjackets.

Northeast is seeded fourth in the region, while Smith is seeded 13th.
