We never lose what we have lost
An ice breaker by Don Lewis

Don Lewis noticed, as he considered what to cover in his ice breaker, that he had experienced many losses in life. However, he also realized that each loss had later become a benefit.

He said his first dream was to save the world as a methodist minister. The dream faded during his second year of college.

It was replaced by a new one as he became a premed student. School did not go well and in search for a new adventure he joined the armed services ---and trained medics.

After his tour of duty he found a new dream---the love of money---a dream her spent several years pursuing in labor and management. As the dream faded he entered special education.

Which is the dream he is living now --- as a special education assistant supervising others and using each of skills he developed over the years as he pursued his dreams.

Don's message? "We never lose what we have lost.
It will come back to serve us at another time."
