9/8/98 - Subject: a quick note...

I JUST started a new book, and I'm SO EXCITED -- I'm on chapter 5 already; it's one of the most concise, well-written, easy to read explainations of Christian doctrine that I've EVER read, and I read A LOT. This guy is the dude that J.I. Packer, who is getting up in years, seems to be passing the torch to, and he's even easier to read than Packer (I still believe "Knowing God" is one of the greatest books of the last 100 years, though). Anyway...the book is a collection of 4 shorter books -- it's called; "Studies in Doctrine" by Alister E. McGrath and contains in their entirety "Understanding Doctrine", "Understanding the Trinity", "Understanding Jesus", and "Justification by Faith". Anyway -- I've been meeting folks from Catholics to Calvinist who've been eating this guys stuff up, so I thought I'd check him out, and I'm loving it! I just thought I'd pass this along, and may some of you track down this book as well!

amen and Amen,
