Or, "Is nothing Sacred?"

If you did not attend the Barony of Storvik's Post Pennsic Dessert
Revel, where I (Pumita de Barcelona) won runner-up status in the
Pennsic Story Telling contest, here is a slightly less "bouncy" version
of what I told before the Baron, Baroness, and populace of Storvik...

I arrived on the battle field ready to sign up in the lists for
the Ansteorran Rapier tournament, only to see one of my friends and allies
from the East Kingdom looking very sad. When I enquired as to the cause of
his sadness, he informed me that he had been barred from fighting in the
tourney by the very King himself because of his strange white shoes. Wishing
to help an ally and fellow fighter, I ran to ask the King leave to have my
friend signed up for the tourney if we promised to find him proper footgear.
Permission was granted, and we signed up, then ran all the way from the
field to my encampment (at least 1/2 of a mile, or the equivalent of a
marathon!). There, we begged my beloved Errand to loan us his shoes for
the tourney, to which he agreed, and then left for the privy. Upon trying
on the shoes, it turned out that they were too soft, and a bit too small
for fighting in. I quickly thought of the boots that our good Squire
Errand has: strong sturdy boots, and a bit larger than the moccasins. So,
we dashed off to find him, turning the corner, and seeing no one in sight,
but the privy in use. After a good blush, I cried "dear, are you in there?"
and heard the affirmative response. I then, to the great amusement and
embarrasment of all around, explained loudly that we needed his boots for
our good ally to fight in the tourney, and Errand replied "you want to
steal the boots off of my feet, while I'm in the privy?!!" to which I
replied "yes, dear!" Some negotiation went on, said boots were indeed
procured, and we ran all the way back to the battlefield (did I mention
that it was the length of another marathon?)! Upon arrival, we both
fought valiantly, died several times, and a good time was had by all,
even Squire Errand, who arrived shortly to check upon the state of
his shoes! :-)
