It has been said that if a man has one true friend, then he is a wealthy man. That being the case, I am a very wealthy man indeed, for I have several true friends. Among those whom I have been lucky enough to have as a friend was William Dean Goodman. Billy was a man who could be counted on at the most critical times. He was quite simply there for you. Billy, also affectionately known as "Rocky", was a hardworking, dedicated, and trustworthy police officer, father, and friend. He was loyal and displayed a wonderful sense of humor.
 

Billy did not always get a fair shake in life and was seriously betrayed more than once in life by individuals who should have been counted on the most. Those events only served to make him stronger and wiser. He did not turn bitter and never indulged in self pity. There was simply too much living to do and Billy was always one to make the best of a bad situation.
 

Billy was killed in an automobile crash in December, 1987. He left behind three small children, parents, and siblings, all of whom still mourn his loss beyond words. Billy left behind many friends who mourn him also. I am honored to have been considered his friend and blessed at having him as my friend.
