Nike name marred by worker beatings
t's a shame that a company as big and as quality-driven as Nike can't get its act together when it comes to overseas labor.
A recent network television report stunned viewers with footage of Vietnamese women who worked for pitiful wages at a Nike plant and then were beaten with unfinished shoes when they didn't meet stiff production quotas.
Nike's position is that the beatings were rendered by employees of a Korean subcontractor, not Nike itself. These abuses should be stopped, or Nike risks serious damage to its good name.
