Myths-     The most qualified person always gets the job. Not necessarily. Friends and relatives, with enough qualifications, can often beat an unknown person with better qualifications. Employers are “afraid” of people they do not know and humans take care of their  buddies.

I had several  good interviews and did not get hired.
I must be doing something wrong. Not necessarily. It just might be that someone with equal qualifications and a little closer contact to the job beat you out.

I am too old. Not necessarily. The “baby boomers” represent 1/3 of the population in the United States. Those between 40 and 60 years of age are in the “power group.” They vote, have the most money and the most wisdom. Those over 60 who remain healthy and active become living legends.

There are no good jobs around here. If you live in a small rural community there is little competition. Find a service or product needed and your community will support you. If you live in a big city, someone got hired today with similar qualifications, in a position you could do, at the rate of pay you would accept. You just didn’t get interviewed. Somebody got fired. Somebody quit. Somebody died. Somebody got promoted. Somebody started a new  business.

All the Jobs are being Outsourced Overseas. Not necessarily. Companies will pay for “cutting edge” performance. Going overseas to save money is only one approach within the global economy. Those who are aware of the latest technology, know what is happening in the marketplace, can deliver an increase in productivity, quality or new ideas, are quite competitive.
