Ensigns

The first poll I mentioned indicated strong support for green and gold. These are Australia's national colours and can represent all Australians. Green can also stand for the land, while gold can indicate the sun. Perhaps this flag could be a viable alternative, or be used for sporting events (the official sporting flag?):

It might also be worth considering combining green and gold with other colours, helping to please the conservative lobby and the more radical groups:

Soon after designing these flags, I noticed a rather similar design to my second-last version submitted to the 1998 Ausflag Professional Designer's Competition. I can only say that I created these in all honesty and that they are my own work.
