THE CASE OF THE ROBBERY
by Gage
Gage, Drew, Cole, Chantel, Taylor, and Baby Jackson were watching television at their Grandma Shirley’s house when the news said ”Somebody stole $23,000 from the bank this morning. The reward was 510 dollars.
“That’s a lot of money for a kid!” said Taylor. “Can we look for the bank robber? Can we? Can we?”
“I don’t know.” said Gage. “It would be fun to have 500 dollars.”
Just then, Jackson started crying.
“Let’s go on the porch and swing.” said Taylor.
Alysia, Taylor and Jackson’s mom, took Jackson to the other room. Then Taylor, Drew, Cole, Chantel, and Gage went to the porch. They swung, and then they saw somebody run across the road with 23,000 dollars!
“HEY! THERE’S SOME MONEY!” said Taylor. “I think that might be the person that stole the bank money this morning!”
“Gimme a break!” said Drew.
“Let’s play!” said Cole.
But Taylor and Gage watched that man run. “I think that might be him.” said Gage.
Gage’s mom said that she would call the police. But, by the time the police got there, the man was gone.
“Darn,” said Taylor. “There goes the money.”
The police left.
“I wonder where he went,” said Gage.
Gage took all the kids on a walk. Then they saw that man again! They followed the man. He went left, then right. Then they saw him go in a huge yellow house. They hid fast! Then when they heard the door shut, they peeked in a window. They saw him talking on the phone.
The man said in a fast voice, “I’ve got the money. Now what do I do?………..Okay. That sounds great. Good bye.”
He hung up the phone. He started to open the door. Taylor was looking at the butterflies. Gage pulled her out of the way just in time. The man got in the car. When he drove off, the kids went inside. The phone started ringing when they got inside. Chantel almost picked up the phone, but then the answering machine came on. It said:
“Hi, this is Justin. Leave a message, and I might call you back.”
“This is your boss. Listen, I made a mistake. There are police at the next bank you’re gonna rob. So go to the bank on Beeline Avenue. Bye.”
Just then, they saw the man that robbed the bank. They ran upstairs as fast as they could, so he wouldn’t see them. They hid in a very dark room. Gage found a candle and lit it. He found all sorts of weapons. Then the man opened the door!
“YOU LITTLE KIDS! WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?” he shouted.
Just then, a voice behind him said, “FREEZE!”
Everyone turned around.
“Well, well, Officer Brown. It’s been a long time, hasn’t it?”
Then the robber was arrested. Everyone left.
“Wait a minute!” said Gage. “How did the cops find out about this?”
Cole was holding up a phone. “I called the cops.” said Cole.
“But I found it.” said Drew.
The kids all got 100 dollars, except Jackson, who got 10. They all put their money together, and ended up buying 6 piccolos. They all got one.
