The late night chill hit me like cold blood and the piercing noise of a sharp howl filled the air. We were asked to check the old mansion by the lake to see what had happened that day. Jamie Boil, a school girl that lived near the old mansion, had been murdered that day walking home from school and then she was drug to the old mansion. My name is Jackie and I have a brother named Dillon , but I will tell most of the story. The big mansion looked very creepy in the moonlight. There were 10 rooms on the fourth floor, 5 rooms on the third floor, 7 rooms on the second floor, and three large rooms on the first floor.
The flashlights of some police bobbed in the dark night. As we entered the old mansion I saw something move in front of us, but as I tried to grab it got away. Then we went to where Jamie’s body had been left. I wondered why the murderer would still be in the mansion. Who was the murderer? Then as Dillon drew the scene of the accident I looked for clues. After looking for about 5 minutes I found a bloody hand print on one of the blocks in the wall. I then pressed on it slowly and it slid out revealing a little button. As I looked at it, Dillon started over to me. Then I pushed it and the wall opened up revealing a stairway. Then we started down it. When we got to the bottom of it we found a dark waterway with a small 2-person boat. As we got in we found a map that showed all of the waterway and mansion.
At this time the police were talking to Jamie’s parents and asked them if anyone was trying to hurt her. They replied that Jamie had just had a sleepover and a girl, Casey, wanted to come but she wasn’t invited to the party and got mad at her. Jamie’s mom also got a threatening call from the girl’s father. Then the police got the girl’s number and called up her mom. The police asked if her husband had been out later than he usually is. The reply was not very shocking. The answer was yes.
“Is your husband home now?”
“Of course he is.”
“ Then we’ll be right over,” said the officer.
“Arrest that man!” the chief yelled.
“We don’t think that will be necessary,” I called out.
As soon as we got there they went right into questions. “I went to the school with my son for his football game,” said Casey’s dad.
“Do you two know who killed Jamie?” questioned the chief.
“Yes, and it was Jamie’s dad,” I said.
“You mean her dad?”
“Yes, he just tried to make it look like it somebody else by blaming it on this man giving his wife a threatening call. He knew the stairway was there. He put his hand up against the block.”
“Why did her dad kill her though?’’ asked the chief.
“That is easy because she asked to have a big sleepover so her dad let her have one. Then when he found out what the bill for all the stuff was, he killed her. I found the receipt floating in the waterway.”
The next day Dillon and I were rewarded with a trophy and party.
