Dear Parent,
Your child is enrolled in the Magical Mystery Tour class. In this class your child will learn the basics of mystery writing through listening to mystery selections, journaling, practicing elements of mystery writing, listening and responding to other students' work and publishing at least one online mystery story. The stories will soon be posted at:
http://www.oocities.org/Athen/Aegean/2221/mystery/intro.htmlOnce his/her first story is published, he/she will begin receiving email from readers from around the country. These readers will most likely be elementary students and teachers. Magical Mystery Tour students will share a school-monitored email address, expressly for this purpose. Students will be expected to answer the email courteously and in a timely manner.
Students are expected to adhere to the "Summer School Rights and Responsibilities" which were published in the enrollment brochures and are posted throughout the school. Addtionally, student computer use is a privilege which can be revoked, if Seneca R-7 Acceptable Use Policy is violated. This policy is attached to this letter.
Optional activities in our class include: reading mystery stories and taking AR tests when available, reading online mystery selections, playing Clue with classmates, additional time journaling, helping classmates, or self-selected activities which are related to mysteries or writing and are approved by the teacher.
Please sign and return the following release to school tomorrow. If you have any questions regarding this, please feel free to call me at 776-2785.
Thank-you!
Mrs. Gaines
