This company is mentioned in the reports of Federal Officers as an independent partisan command in the vicinity of Davis' Mill, December 1862, and on various other dates. They were in a skirmish on the Coldwater near Holy Springs, March 18, 1863; a few of the men were captured near Early Grove, April 6; in a skirmish near Salem, Tenn, May 20. In May Gen'l Chalmers assigned them to Colonel Slemons command, and in June ordered Col. H. C. Young, near Byhalia, to require their presence.
They participated locally in the battles of Salem, Collierville,Byhalia,Wyatt, Moscow.
Major Battles include: Attack on Ft. Pillow, Harrisburg, Brices Crossroads, Gen. Forrest raid on Memphis (Where Forrest rode into the Gayosa Hotel and rode his horse up the main stairs), part of the Battalion with John Bell Hood in Tenn. in the fall of 1864, Spring hill, Columbus Ms 1865, Fought along Forrest against Wilson in Alabama. They were paroled at Gainsville, Al in May of 1865.
