Melissa Muscovally Davis (Mama Davis)

Mama Davis was born 22 Sept, 1845 in Hickman County, Kentucky, her father was John Muscovally, her mother was Jane Anderson Muscovally. They lived on a farm in Columbus Ky, her father farmed the land and also cut timber for sale. He would cut as much timber as he could and put them in the river, which was close to there home, and ride the logs down to New Orleans to sell them. After the sale of timber, he would walk, catch an occasional train or riverboat back to Kentucky. Mama Davis married William T. Davis in the 1870's as he had made his way to Kentucky after the war. They settled in Barlow Ky, and later moved to Arlington Ky, on 27 June 1928 W.T.Davis passed away, Mama Davis always said that he wanted to die a peaceful death after the horrible things that he had seen in the war, and she said that he did, he laid down one afternoon and passed on. After losing him she went on for only 11 months before she joined him again, 26 May, 1929.
