Yule- December 21
    
"Winter Solstice"
Marks the rebirth of the God, as well as the depth of winter. It is the longest night of the year, making it the height of female power.  In our tradition it is usually celebrated by an all night vigil used as a time for reflection and meditation.

Imbolc-  February 1
    
"Festival of Lights"
Marks the recovery of the Goddess from childbirth.  It is a festival of purification and a time for reverance and renewal of the Earth.  Also one of the best nights of the year to perform divination.

Ostara-  March 21
    
"Spring Equinox"
Awakenings of the Earth, as well as the rebirth of life.  It marks the first plantings of the year.  A time of balance between male and female power.

Beltane-  May 1
  
"May Day"
Festival of Fertility, when the God ventures into manhood and joins the Goddess to produce the bounty of nature.

Litha-  June 21
    
"Summer Solstice"
Height of male power, when the  power of nature is at its peak, as well as being the longest day of the year.

Lammas-  August 1
    
"First Harvest"
The beginning of the harvest season and  the time of ritual thanksgiving.

Mabon-  September 21
    
"Autumn Equinox"
Second harvest of the year, it also marks the preparation of the God for death and our preparation for winter.

Samhain-  October 31
Marks the death of the God and the coming of winter.  A time for reverence of the dead.  As well as the beginning of the dark times, which span the seven weeks between Samhain and Yule.  It is when the veil between the worlds is thinnest.
