Burn first string from one end and 2nd string at both ends.
2nd string will be completely burnt in half an hour ( double rate burning from both ends ).
At that time the first string will have half hour burning time left.
Light up the other end of 1st string and it will be completely burnt in another 15 mins.
Half hour plus 15 mins....q.e.d.
