Urthania

A Horse With No Name

----> Conner quickly takes what he can of what the hobyah left behind. No sense leaving anything for the nasty goblin-kin.
----> In his rummaging, the blonde fighter stumbles across a few items of he finds may be somewhat useful.

----> He searches for a sheath that might fit Osblade, but comes up empty handed. Grabbing some leather from a scrap pile nearby, Conner fashions himself a homemade sheath. He wraps Osblade up in the leather and then ties it up. He straps both bastardswords to his back.

----> Conner is unsure of what to do next. He feels compelled to avenge these townsfolk, but he knows he cannot hope to defeat the hobyah army by himself. He’s sure there are survivors in Deepbush who need his help, but he cannot risk being surrounded by the scores of fyrquai that have remained behind to build their webbed homes inside, atop, and between the homes of Deepbush’s prior dwellers. Conner comes to the conclusion that he must go and visit the old man’s cabin. The old man will know what to do.

----> Exiting Osward’s tomb, Conner peeks out the door and ensures the street is clear. It is. He looks about the carnage: burning buildings and dead bodies. Somewhere in the not-so-distant, the chittering of the fyrquai is audible. The hysterical woman is lying in the street up ahead, apparently unconscious.
----> A snort and a stamp of a hoof turns Conner’s attention toward the barded war-horse. It has dragged the still motionless body of Captain Jeffries halfway up the street towards him. The blood of unfortunate arachnids has caked to the horse’s muscled legs and hindquarters. The horse stands staring at Conner as the barbarians puts down the cart full of salvaged equipment. After several silent moments, the horse snorts again and nuzzles its head on Conner’s arm.
----> The big man smiles and strokes the great beast on its neck. "See, dumb-dumb horsie? Me good guy."
----> Inspecting the good Captain, Conner finds him to be alive, though barely. Blood has clotted to the sandy-haired man’s mouth and ears. Lifting the Captain, Conner kicks his gathered equipment off to the side of the cart and gently places the limp body on its wooden surface.
----> Turning around, Conner checks the unconscious woman ten paces behind him. She, too, is still breathing. Up she goes, atop the cart.
----> Waving to the horse, Conner extends an invitation. "Come on, horsie. Follow. Safe with me," he says.

----> Conner pushes his cart, complete with gathered equipment and two unconscious bodies, back towards the outskirts of the decimated town. He snatches up a burning piece of wooden Deepbush on his way and sets to burning away much of the webs that have already been spun between Osward’s smithy and The Meaty Tusk.

----> At the edge of the jungle, Conner stops and draws both blades. The makeshift leather sheathing falls from Osblade. Holding them high in the air, the barbarian makes an oath to Deepbush, Osward, and his god; "ME COME BACK! KILL YOU ALL!"

----> Conner leaves a ruined settlement behind him and heads toward the cabin of Uther Jaelborne.
