Back Down
----> "What now?" Alasdair asks from his position beside one of the mural painted walls.
----> "It seems that we have reached the top of Baragon," Grant states, folding his arms. "We should set up a base of operations."
----> "Let’s set up here," Alasdair suggests. "We can run up here and defend the stairs if any creature attacks us. The position is easy to hold and the sun light might keep them away."
----> "No good," Grant replies. "We can’t be completely safe with these bats up here."
----> "The bats are harmless, I assure you," Yohon interjects.
----> "I’m sure you’re right," Grant smirks, "but I won’t take that chance. Harmless or not, them are some big fraggin’ bats."
----> "Yeah, not with the bats," Meggana agrees, looking up at the ceiling where the ugly things are still moving about in their roost. "Please."
----> A squawk from Siggy makes an echo that stirs the bats up a bit. Tharg back tracks to the edge of the stairwell.
----> "We’ll use the tier below this one. It’s the safest," Grant says.
----> "Yes," Yohon agrees. "The third tier is optimal, I believe."
----> "We can defend at the stairs if anything comes from down or up," the dwarf theorizes. "If we use the upper tier, we won’t have any advanced warning if some flying creature decides to pop in for a visit through some of the openings in the structure."
----> "Good point," Cyrdan comments. "Besides, the sun will go down in a few more hours and we’ll lose that advantage no matter which tier we choose."
----> "Let’s take a breather below before we continue downward," Grant offers. "We need to be refreshed before doing any real dungeoneering."
----> Taer Tilwic nods his approval. Meggana is more than happy to leave the bat-room. Tharg is already halfway down the stairs.
----> Once on the third tier, the group re-clears it and then settles down for a quick rest. Snacking on whatever scant provisions they thought to bring, the group is silent. Grant begins checking over his weapons, as does Yohon and Cyrdan. Meggana follows suit once she sees them tending theirs.
----> All preparations having been made, the group descends and stands at the center of the second tier. They search around the perimeter a bit to ensure their own safety and then report back to the center of the room, between stairwells.
----> "That one's got water dripping at the bottom," Grant says, motioning behind him to the northeastern corner.
----> "Those are quiet," Meggana assures them. "And dark," she adds, biting her lip a bit.
----> Yohon returns from the southeastern corner. "Those appear to be in slight disrepair," he reports. "But I think we could make it to the bottom."
