THE MOUSE LEMUR
The mouse lemur is a nocturnal
animal. During the day it sleeps in a hole in the tree, or in a nest
made of dead leaves. It lives in the canopy area so that it helps
protect itself from any kind of enemies that it might have. In this
way the enemies such as snakes and big birds won’t be able to see the Lemur.
If the Lemur isn’t seen and doesn’t become a meal for some predatory it
can sleep during the day. This Lemur eats only insects and small
vertebrates, such as chameleons, frogs, and geckos. An interesting
fact about the Mouse Lemur is it gives birth to twins in the month of November.
The female carries the offspring in its mouth for the first three weeks
of the baby’s life. Mouse Lemur can weight anywhere from two-to-three
ounces.
