The Hunduran White Bat

The Honduran White Bat is thirty seven to forty seven millimeters in size and weigh fractions of an ounce.  They have a white coat but when they sit in the plants their coat reflects the shades of green or gray.  The noses and ears of these bats are yellow-orange and leaf-shaped.  These bats have no external tails.  A dark pigment on the skull reflects UV light.
The Honduran bat lives in the lower canopy of the rainforest.  They live in the young leaves of the Heliconia plant.  Since they are so small, several bats can share the same leaf.  These bats are also known as “tent bats” because they roll up the leaves, which serve as protection against both the weather and predators.  Any carnivorous animal will prey on the tiny Honduran bats.  The chief predator is the snake.
These bats live on the fruits and tiny insects in the canopy layer.  Of all the bats, the Honduran White Bats are the cutest.
