Cobras come from India, southern China, Africa, the Middle East, and southeastern Asia. Most cobras are five to eighteen feet long. Cobras come in many colors. When cobras sense danger they raise their heads and spread the bones in their neck to forms their hoods. Cobras eat mice, small birds, frogs, fish, and king cobras eat other snakes. Female snakes lay twenty to fifty eggs and they also live up to twenty years. Cobras usually live near water. These kinds of snakes are deadly. Cobras have special glands behind their eyes. They use muscles to squeeze these glands and release venom when they attack. If the cobra spits venom in its victim’s eyes it causes pain, blurred sight, and dizziness. Victims must wash venom from their eyes. If not, they could go blind. If bitten by cobra, a human can die in fifteen minutes.
