Wicca
...a spiritual path and a way of life...

About Wicca: What it is. What it is not.

Wicca is a nature focused-- Pagan-- religion. It is also called Witchcraft. Wicca, Witchcraft, and Paganism are not evil. Wiccans, Witches, and Pagans do not believe in or worship satan or the devil. This is the biggest misconception about Witches and the biggest prejudice we face. Hopefully my site can show you a more realistic view of Wicca and dispell some myths.... not by convincing you to join ( Pagans dont do this) but by offering one woman's views and inspirations!

About Me: a little herstory

I live in a rather liberal town where "metaphysical" bookshops are aplenty. I was always into make-believe, fairy princesses, mythology, arts-n-crafts as a child. In the 80's the whole "New Age" thing really appealed to me with its Tarot cards, crystals, Astrology, and revamped Goddesses. Like most people I thought it was new. But in fact most of the ideas, practices, rituals, and tools were old. Very old! I started noticing areas in these bookshops with books on Witchcraft, Paganism, Wicca, Druids, ect... But I was always too nervous to investigate them. Finally one day I did and was sweetly surprised to find that there was a Religion that believed and praticed what I had been practicing for some time. It was called Wicca .{ side note--evidently this is a common experience among Wiccans. Cool!} It's roots stemming from the old Ireland, Scotland, England, and Wales (as well as continental Europe). My own family is of Irish and Scottish ancestry and that made it all the more intriguing! As I read more and more about how ancient and rich the traditions of these Pagan Celts were I felt a stronger connection to my life both spiritually and earthly.

I consider myself an Eclectic Solitary Wiccan; but I usually just call myself a Pagan. I do not follow a particular tradition but rather let my natural interests show me the way. In the last year I have been very successful in meeting Pagans in my area. I started a monthly networking gathering called Merry Meet. It is not a Circle or Coven, just a place where Pagans can meet others of a like mind. Through networking the grace of the Goddess I have met some wonderful and special women who I am starting a Coven with.

I am also a proud co-ordinator of the Goddess 2000 Project in my area. For Winter Solstice 99 myself and four other women held a Goddess 2000 art exhibit and Celebration at a local dance hall. We set up alters for each direction, displayed local Goddess art, people signed up to perform: singing, dancing, poetry. We performed a beautiful and powerful ritual which included a spiral dance. About 140 people attended and we managed to raise $300 for our cities Tree Foundation. It was an amazing experience!

Today my main interests are....
Anything Celtic: Knotwork, symbols, megaliths, sacred wells and springs, and history/mythology. (see my cool Tattoos). Goddesses form around the world and their migration through the ages. Sacred sites such as Stonehenge, Pyramids, Inca temples, etc. The vibrational and physical changes from the Millenium and Aquarian Age transformation. And dabbling in Astrology, Tarot, herbs, and other fun things.

If you have any insightful or intriguing information on these subjects...EMAIL ME!...Thank you
