Gail - 03/13/00 19:56:49 My Email:GWA62@Yahoo.com | Comments: I've never read such superficial nonsense in all my days. Rely on reason and you rely on ignorance. There is far more to life than your little mind can conceive. "There is no place called Heaven. If so, where is it?". Wake up. That's like saying there is o such thing as the Mind, as Awareness, as Love, as Healing Energy, etc. Your whole site smacks of the worst form of ego centric sentimentality there is. If you can't seriously look within yourself and beyond yourself at least get some good LSD or Mushroo s! |

It reminds me of the attempts to reconcile science and religion in the later work of Aldous Huxley (e.g. Perennial Philosophy)and also the revival of Spinozistic Monism advocated by the conrempory American philosopher Thomas Nagel. You suggest that the concept of matter/energy which is derived from modern physics can qualify as the 'substance' in a holistic view of the world, however this idea is a purely objective model of the universe which cannot by its nature accomodate any subj ctive experience i.e. the mind. Many attempts have been made to resolve this problem which are surely relevant to the development of your ideas, for example Shopenhauer's concept of the 'Will', or Robert Pirsig's metaphysic of Quality. I also think modern physics allows you to be a bit more optimistic about an afterlife when you consider the concept of 'after' in the light of relativity theory. (entities composed entirely of energy exist in a kind of timeless here-now, all very Zen). Your comments about technology being a force for social alienation are also very convincing and remind me of the concerns of Kurt Vonnegut, particularly his idea of a 'folk community'. Thanks for an interesting visit, I hope you find these comments helpful. |

Are you a Scientific Pantheist?: well, can't say i am, cos i just heard about the thing. But i'm a sort of panheist. What is your religion?: christian. But actually i'm a theosophist. What would you like to see more of on this site?: about reincarnation? If you had 1 day to live, what would you do?: i'd tell all the people i love them, i'd talk with them about life, love, helping and all that i'd do if i only could live longer.. and ask them if they could do even just a little bit to help this worl . For my sake, for their sake, for life's sake. Who/what is your God/dess?: Love | Comments: i read the text you've written, and agree quite a lot. Only the matter of life after death... You say we'll unite with the universe. So we won't be reincarnated? I think we are united with the universe all the time, well, but we don't quite feel or know i very well, do we.. But, yes, i guess i know what you mean. I have this feeling, just a little feeling what it'll be like to finally reunite with the Universe, you know, i don't believe in personalities, i don't need to be me, i just want to be part of lo e, and then i won't be a part anymore but whole cos i'm not "me". But yes, i still need to be me because i'm not mature enough, have all this karma. So for me life is learning and growing. Sorry to write all this, but i just love to talk about religion and i don't get an opportunity for that too often. I'm 18 and many of my friends don't know what to think about and because they are not so interested they haven't been thinking about these t ings and reading books for years like i have.. (I loved philosophy, but i had to quit the lessons at school cos i simply couldn't say what i really thought cos they were talking about something very different, though the subject was the same..) Anyway, it was nice finding this page. You're free to mail me if want to. love, mz |
