What is Revival?

by Rev. Paul A. Hughes, M.Div.

Revival . . .

. . . begins when people of vision humble themselves before the Lord and seek his face.

. . . requires our cooperation.

. . . requires patience, perseverance, and courage.

. . . requires willingness to change -- our minds, our lives, our opinions, and our methods.

. . . must often bypass existing power structures and leadership, which fear the loss of control and resist change.

. . . will be missed and obstructed by those who lack vision and humility.

. . . is often mistaken for fads, excitement, emotional extremes, and even the hucksterism and fakery of some who profit by it.

. . . is often discussed but seldom pursued in earnest.

. . . is the necessary missing ingredient that hinders the Church from fulfilling the task of winning the world through the Gospel.

"Christians are more to blame for not being revived, than sinners are for not being converted" (Charles Finney).
